How much YOU have spent This year on Bike related stuff?
Re: How much YOU have spent This year on Bike related stuff?
+£3k - new bike, Ti hardware, CF bars, new lights, clothing & complete 700c wheels set up tubeless for my hybrid. An expensive year not spent on Hi Fi or photography though. No plans to spend much next year either.

Cycled more than 2 000 km so far
Year is not over yet, mind
Bought nothing else, cycled 2219 km
I guess I am the winner at the bottom (or top) of the list
Anyone else spent very little?
Who spent most?
BTW my car is guilty, I broke the old bracket squeezing the bike into the vehicle

Got a new set of wheels plus some new lights plus lots of bits & bobs - not sure how much altogether but did over 2000 miles on the bike I use for work - which as I'm self-employed means about £400 off my profits before tax.

Hi,
2000 miles of work use.
That's not cycling to work, or is it cycling between clients?

It does not include tyres servicing and all the other costs that go with 90000 miles of motoring. I have also saved another 24 k by not smoking over this period.
How much have you saved by not betting on greyhounds?
I only mentioned smoking because I used cycling as the way to give up, 13 years ago, promising myself a new bike and since then when ever I have been tempted to restart. I focussed on the results that I gained, not being hampered by carbon monoxide in the blood. I have never gambled on the dogs in my life, at least I didn't have that addiction.
Hi Samuel
Stopped smoking in May last year. Bought a bike similarly. Already paid for my lovely Pashley commute bike which Mrs Snapper said was being sold if I started on the fags again. Eyes on a leisure "weekend" bike now for 2018 with the spare cash. Back on topic, I don't own a car (luckily I don't have to!) so the insurance/VED bill of, what, 600 or so quids pa excluding fuel covers my modest cycling expenditure. Ha, possibly need to stop looking at my dream bike tho'. (Moulton!!!).

Good work, lankysnapper. Keep it up and, who knows, a Moulton may be yours!
Re: How much YOU have spent This year on Bike related stuff?

Though that's unlikely to last past the first week.

Re: How much YOU have spent This year on Bike related stuff?
Cyril Haearn, it was a well-used Marin 'mountain'bike, one of a pair left behind by some of LEJoGers. They locked their bikes at JoG, kept the seats & posts as souvenirs and gave the key to someone local who advertised them as free to collect. After the ad had been up for a while I decided that at least one of the bikes was likely to be in better condition than the one I was slowly doing up. Fortunately I had a collection of likely spares already, though no seat post. The fiver was the cost of diesel to collect it, and the other bike went to a teenage nephew who happened to be the right height and in need of a bike.
As for the trip, not sure about the timing yet but yes I'll be sure to report!

Bought a new bike
It had a bell that went 'ding', awful
First upgrade, €2,99 for a proper bell that goes *drrrriinng*
A small change that makes a big difference

As close to nil as makes no difference
Re: How much YOU have spent This year on Bike related stuff?
I'm going to be @home between 11-18 every weekend in July being sociable to visitors to Mrs T's open studio (=back garden!)
To give me something to do I've bought a nice new SON 28 dynamo (in quite a fetching shade of green to match the bike), 3 new rims (I've had a 2 hubs sitting around for some time) spokes etc. With new lights to go with the dynamo that's the best part of £500 gone.
I've also bought two new flat-pack beehives to give me something to hit when I get bored of twanging spokes.
Anyone want to buy a wheel? I'll throw in a couple of pounds of honey to sweeten the deal......
