Agree.
Itemise the bikes with pictures, I would rather my bikes such as my Wester Ross or George Longstaff, went to someone who appreciates them with the money going on to a charity... rather than find they ended up unappreciated and/or trashed.

Couldn't agree more. Make sure that you tell any potential purchasers the history - avoiding some of the usual negotiations? Good luck.

Sorry but I don't really see the difference between selling on here or selling on ebay, you could get someone on here who would buy as winter commute and treats it with little respect.you could get people on ebay looking for a classic., and it may be loved once more, but either way it gets used.
Even gumtree if someone buys a bike for getting to work, if they have the surprise of bike that is great to ride, you will have created another cyclist what a brilliant tribute that would be.

No one will revere a bike if they didn't know the previous owner,.Splitting up an estate is hard, for the loved ones left. Often it is easier to give to charity even if it s cherry picked at least its going to good use.

Local bike charities who repair and resell will welcome tools and spares.

Memrobillia will either have a local, national or international feel. You may want to look for a specialist auction if you have anything significant. Local stuff of low value is really limited to people who knew him or the club's he was in.

Thanks for all the ideas, folks. I'll distill them and pass on to the person concerned.
