Thinking of buying a second hand road bike, either a 6 year old vitus razor or a 2 year old triban 500 se similar in price, any advice.

Other than ride it what do you plan to do with it.. ie type of cycling, road and track / road only, touring, commuting, charity rides?

I would be inclined to go newer then older due to the advancement of components etc

But that still depends if the ones your looking at have been upgraded & maintained well, making the age of the bike irrelevant.

A lot depends on the condition and how much it's been ridden. The Razor is an entry level bike and can be had new for £450. It's got a better groupset than the Triban. I have a Triban 520 and I'm very pleased with it, but I think all else being equal, I'd go for the the Vitus.
