Value of a Peugeot tandem
Hi I’m trying to sell this for my dad, and wondering what sort of price to ask. It’s a grande tourisme one, in good condition. It won’t let me attach photos for some reason. Thanks for reading. It’s probably 30 odd years old. Very clean. Not been used for many years.

Welcome to the forum.
I've just approved your first post, so you should be able to upload a photograph now.
Good luck.

Need more info!
How old is it, has it been ridden a lot, what sort of brakes and gears, any new parts, damage or scratches, extras or swapped parts, frame size?

I had a Peugeot single with the same colours: 1978!
The brake levers look original, are you technical, can you describe the parts and their condition?

I’ll ask my dad tomorrow and give more information.
Re: Value of a Peugeot tandem
IIRC they only used those exact decals for a year or two, maybe 1978 as mentioned above.
BTW if the hubs are Maillard ones, they may well have a date mark on them.
Regarding value, how long is a piece of string? My advice would be to advertise it in the summer when the weather is better. A lot of people will buy a tandem just to do a charity ride on.
cheers

Re: Value of a Peugeot tandem
Might be of interest to retro bike collectors, due to it's age it probably won't be able to take some modern kit, and a lot of the older kit (gearing) might not be readily available anymore.... find the right buyer and it might worth something.... otherwise it might not be worth an awful lot.
I recently have ressurected a frame from the early 1980's it was built for 5 speed gears, has already had the rear 'sprung' so it would take 7 speed, and if/when it gets it's next respray it will go to Mercian to have a re-build so that it can take modern gearing.... hope that explains the situation you might find with your tandem.... sadly bikes like this are often worth more in treasured memories than to buyers..... unless as said it is the right type of buyer...
