C2C Whitehaven to Tynemouth - Organised Trip or DiY?

Post by Shake and Fingerpop »

Can anyone recommend a cycling trip organiser for a Whitehaven to Tynemouth coast to coast in July?
Checked out Skedaddle for £295, then found http://www.c2chasslefree.co.uk/ offering a 3 day plan at £250.
What have people experienced?
Main reason for going with a trip is so we don't have to carry bags.
Have looked for up to date messages on the boards but none within 3/4 years.
Thanks!

I think the link above is for Sherpa's C2C walk package, but they also do a C2C cycle package - see https://www.sherpavan.com/trails/C2C-cycle-route.asp

Not used them in a cycle tour context, but we used Sherpa for the first time last month on the Cleveland Way walk for baggage transfer and accommodation booking service. They were excellent - highly recommended.

I've used them just for bike transport on an C2C when there was a threatened train strike (Which didn't happen) good service and value.
I see they also offer a bag transfer only option
£100 per bag for the entire route (up to five transfers).

Assuming you can get everything in one bag that's very good value, even more so if two people can share a bag.
I've never used a bag transfer service, instead investing the money on kit light enough not to have too much effect on the cycling, on a B&B tour that's around 4kg over what I'd be carrying on a day ride. Main weight savings are clothing that works on and off the bike and a mixture of merino items that it's acceptable to wear for multi days and those which will dry overnight. I know that's nothing like enough luggage for some and way to much for others, but it works for me.

Witnessed Sherpa’s good work when staying at Kirby Stephen Hostel. The size of bag the German hiker had ready for them to uplift was incredible.
I could barely lift it !
