BTWIN 520 Triban

Post by Manonastick »

Hi everyone,

Newbie here :D

I have recently signed up to my works Cycle2work scheme and have £500 to spend on a new bike. I really would like the BTWIN 520 triban, seen priced between £450 - £500, but Halfords do not stock them as far as I'm aware.

Anyone know of a retailer (pref in the south of UK) that sells this make of bike and also takes the cycle2work vouchers?

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks

Matt

Btwin is Decathlon's own brand bikes.
Do you mean Triban?

Maybe you have a local store to you.

Decathlon do the "cycle to work" scheme.

Yes sorry I meant the Triban. Decathlon unfortunately do not accept the Halfords C2W vouchers that my employers offer so I cannot go direct to them for the bike. I was hoping someone might know a local independent retailer that might be able to help

One of the downsides of C2W... having said that some of the Halfords bikes in the £4-500 range look ok for the price and you can always get the bike and upgrade as time progresses.

Yep my second choice would be the Carrera Vanquish Disc £425 as it seems ok, however, as I said I am a newbie at this, just getting back into cycling after a long break. Any advice on this bike would be great!

Carrera bikes are invariably good value for money. In my experience where they give trouble it is usually down to poor pre-sales checks or sub standard assembly. These issues are usually only minor and rectifiable by an experienced mechanic.

Not a downside of C2W. It's a downside of voucher schemes. There's nothing in the rules which says an employer must use a voucher scheme they can just buy the bike directly themselves.
