Newbie bike purchase advice please.

Post by Zen1 »

Hi,

As someone who has decided to take up cycling in retirement instead of the 'sofa and remote' scenario I was wondering if anyone could advise on the best bike I should buy.

At the moment after some research I've narrowed it down to either the Cube Cross Pro...

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Cube-Cross-Pro ... 112989.htm

or the Scott Sub Cross 10

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Scott-Sub-Cros ... 112433.htm

Both the above seem suitable but not sure which to go for.....any thought please ?....or is there another brand or option I've overlooked perhaps ?.

Thanks .... David.

I'm getting a 404 error on both those links.

At least I think those are the one's Zen1 intended to link.

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my Moto G (4) using hovercraft full of eels.

The Cube only comes in one size. Is it your size?
You are looking for a bike suitable. Suitable for what?
Do you really need suspension?

Where do you want to cycle? The best bike is the one that fits you best and is easiest for you to pedal. Specs on a website won't necessarily give you that information. However you won't know what you want until you've cycled. It's a bit chicken and egg. You might find a bike with suspension is harder to pedal/ride than one without.
