Cycle Framebuildrt

Post by Triumph »

Hi everyone
I’m trying to trace someone by the name of Jim Macillwaine. I believe he still lives in Coventry. He used to build Bromwich cycle frames circa 1980 - 1990’s. He will now be retired. If anyone could give me any help in tracing him I would be grateful.

Thank you

You might try asking Lee Cooper who worked with Jim and mentions him in this account http://leecoopercycles.webs.com/aboutme.htm

I am so glad I read that post.
It was very easy to buy a cheap 531 frame back in the late 80's but cheap was the word as the the standard of lugs and build quality was suspect from many suppliers.
Not so from Bromwich and Lee Cooper.
My off the peg Sirrius Audax frame was bought in 89 and was only £139. The lugs are nice and thin and the shorelines are well defined and consistent. For the price it was an absolute bargain.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.
