Metrer gears?

Post by Airsporter1st »

Just seen a very nice looking hybrid bike in the window of the LBS, equipped with a very clean-looking chainset and rear derailleur marked "METRER". The shifters were combined with the hydraulic brake levers and were Shimano. I've searched on here and Googled METRER without success.

Anyone know anything about them? Are they a Shimano range or a manufacturer in their own right?

Try googling METREA

Brilliant! Thankyou. Must try harder :D

In my defence, the typeface they have used makes the 'A' look almost exactly the same as the preceding 'R'.

Metrea is the best looking groupset in 2018 I think! The bullhorn hydraulic STIs are quite novel, I'm not sure about their ergonomics though. I've not seen a Metrea equipped bike in the wild

I saw it in the flesh on a Ridgeback hybrid in the local bike shop window (it was this one: https://www.ridgeback.co.uk/bikes/city/flight/flight-04) and it did look good. However, once I had the name right, I searched on here and found this thread https://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=104058&hilit=metrea, wherein it is fairly roundly condemned.
