Does anyone know what the surface of the sustrans 33 route is that runs from the South into Weston Super Mare? I can see that it's off road but is it tarmac or gravel etc?

IIRC it's tarmac across Uphill, packed stone across the Axe, tarmac through the Diamond caravan park. Take a sat nav or very detailed route because signs are lacking, especially northbound. I had no trouble on 47mm tyres and I'd not hesitate to do it on 28. I'd take it pretty slow on anything narrower. The gradients into Uphill slow me anyway

Thanks for the information. We rode the there last weekend but went in via the A370, I was riding 23 mm tyres so probably just as well. I'll give it a go on my tourer 1.75" tyres the next time I come from that direction .
