EdwardianAttire

Post by mumbojumbo »

I am looking for some plus fours.I am starting an Edwardian cycling club, and as founder member need to wear these on a recruitment drive in Barnsley tiown centre.I am happoy to accept any material other than paisley or velvetine, and no shoddy as it makes the inside nof my legs erupt in red blotches.Coirds or Woostered will be just dandy.I need a 40" waist and 18" length to the knees, without or with restrictors.I swould also like a Gore-Tex waistcoat, and a traditional cape, yellow or vermillion please.I did ask in John Lewis butn they soldm their last ones in 1968,so I just missed out.

I will be riding a hobby horse, and plan to obtain consent from Rev Alan Billigsley, the local police commissioner in South Yorks

Try asking at charity shops, often they have a warehouse with lots of stuff that is not on display
Or costume/theatrical clothes suppliers
Entertainer, juvenile, curmudgeon, PoB, 30120
Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

Goretex in Edwardian times? I don't think so.... A Norfolk jacket would look good, though.

There used to be a similar group in Suffolk; if my memory serves me correctly they were known as the: Haughley and District Gentleman's Cycling Association. If you can find a link on the inter-web might be worth enquiring.
Just remember, when you’re over the hill, you begin to pick up speed.

Plus 4ours are still pretty popular in the Countryside shops.

A google for shooting breeks plus 4 should reveal no end of options.

Shooting shops. Look for ones selling pricey shot guns rather than flash air guns although they could be one and the same.
They do pop up on ebay. I used to make climbing breeches from old tweed trousers found in charity shops. Fairly easy and cheap.
