Blackburn pannier rack?

Post by manc68 »

Hi, I realise I’ll get told off for this but can someone let me know what these are please I found them in a job lot of stuff. I have two (same shape) and they’re stamped ‘Blackburn’ so I’m guessing they’re pannier related.

Thanks

Yes it's a Blackburn low rider front rack, and there should be 2 of them . The split bit at the top fixes to the double sided fork boss ( if you have a double sided( inner and outer) fork boss, and the other end fixes to the boss near the qr. If you only have a single sided upper boss, you'll need the rack with the hoop over the wheel.

Thanks, it’s also explains to me what those screw holes on forks are for now too.

I would also mention that the original rack pictured without the hoop over the wheel is possibly the least stable/safe front rack available. With all the fixings along the fork there is very little resistance to a pannier twisting into the front wheel - not recommended for heavy front panniers!
