Okay so!

I have two bikes that are local to me on my radar.

First is this- it keeps appearing to me! Or at least I watched it on ebay and it got relisted. I like its tape, and its horn. Its very circus-punk:

And then theres this one, and likewise I dont know anything about the brand:

I know neither are fabulous bikes, but are they cheap brands / models I should avoid?

Thank you once again for all your input!

You seem to have put the same link in twice?

But a 90s Diamondback should be a decent frame, if it's in reasonable condition.

The Topanga was a low-mid range bike in the day. It's a standard chromoly frame, but I can't find any info on the tubing, whether butted etc.

I'd probably take the Diamondback over the Merida, but I suspect that patience &/or travelling a bit further will yield better results.
