I, too, can recommend pyracantha to repel intruders - and puncture footballs, penetrate leather gloves etc . . .

Will need a bit of patience until it's established, though. Trembler type alarms and security lights in the meantime?

Gooseberry bushes can have quite viscous spikes on them. They also have the advantage of producing a tasty crop. :D

As purchased and used as a "Pest Deterrent" they are legal

They become illegal if you modify them, or use shotgun cartridges.
