A reduced mileage!

About 3000 miles 2017, 2800 miles for 2018.

My longest 2018 rides have been longer than those I did in 2017. I believe my commuting miles are up, leisure miles down. Cakes per mile have risen, which isn't as good as it sounds.

It sounds to me like you could do with remotivating yourself by finding new ways to get to the destinations you go to, and maybe find new destinations. Just getting the routes nailed down should get the mileages back up.

True, have to admit catching a train one way and cycling back has been fanastic. But not a daily occurrence! The other option of cycling the first 20 miles along a bland route does give a way out, though after a full day cycling in a new area, that 20 miles of the bland return doess cut in!

Don't know so much about reduced mileage, just topped 857km this Dec, highest monthly total for 3 years, since I bought 'Olive', now just 250km short of 15,000 km in 3 years. I'll be 57 in January.

And proof of a REDUCED MILEAGE

Finally had to replace the rear tyre on the main bike. While it's well and truly worn out, my order history at CRC Cyclces shows it's been on the bike for nearly sixteeen months. A quick browse, revealed that predecessors lasted no more than five to six months.

Suppose if I continue my 234 miles per week (NB. Purely this weeks figures), the replacement may not last as long

Anyone else "suffer" from the problem?



And somehow I've recognized in the past few weeks, that my BB's have lasted for 4 years without an issue My chainset has only been replaced, ONCE in 3-4 years and that's primarily due to a "what the hell" type feeling, I might head off on the bike (Last summer) so it's worthwhile replacing "just in case".

Somehow my lack of maintenance requirements have highlighted the fact that I no longer do the mileage I did (Nb. I'm just <50!). Not an issue, but how did it get to this point?

The one probelm I've not suffered is changing my bottom bracket or chainset every 3-4 years.
My work bike has had the same BB in it since 1997 and has never been touched. It's done ~ 45,000 miles just over the last 8 years in all weathers. I've replaced the odd chainring over that time but can't remember have to change a chainset.

45000 miles on one bottom bracket is impressive! Doubt I've had more than 15-20k on a BB at the most

45000 is only over the last 8 year in total it's probably double that since 1997.
It's a UN 71 or possibly 72.
Chances are I'll never get out of the frame!
