SA driver holder

Post by Ugly »

Has anyone got the Sturmey Archer tool that holds the driver in a vice to remove the threaded sprockets used on the older hubs? If you have one could you do a drawing of it or givve me accurate dimensions so that I can make one. I would buy one if available

FWIW you can make one using a clutch cruciform, some additional steel and a bit of cunning welding. IMHO a useful addition is to temporarily fit a collar over the end of the driver so that the driver legs don't just snap off; IIRC the 'correct' tool doesn't allow for this provision and drivers occasionally break as a consequence. Drivers vary in their external dimensions so it is possible that the same collar won't do for all drivers.

cheers

Thanks for your prompt reply, as you might have guessed it's to remove the sprocket on a K hub. I'm sure I can fabricate something suitable.
