Cycle Stands

Maybe conveniently on the edge of the CBD is meant , strangely expressed mind
I park my bike once on the edge of town, then walk, often I want to visit many different shops, the library &c. It would be crazy to cycle 100-200 meters, lock the bike again..

That's not how I use a bike - sounds more like a car mentality approach, but situations vary. I leave the bike as near as possible to where I want to shop. I then ride it or maybe walk it to the next place. It becomes, in effect, a shopping trolley. Other people who use bikes do the same. Hence the need for cycle stands at various convenient places.

My recommendation to anybody thinking of installing cycle stands would be to spend a bit of time observing where bikes are being chained to things like railings and then start your provision there. Installing stands where you think it would be a good idea may be ineffective.
