Hi Guys,

Does anyone know which of these 2 bikes might be best? I just want a bike to cycle to work 11km each way on down a canal towpath but don't know a huge amount! They're similar priced and both look good!

https://claudbutler.co.uk/product/exp-2-0/

Thanks,

Neal

I'd not be keen on the suspension fork.

Do you need a rack?

Disc brakes aren't particularly necessary.

Basically I'd look for something with a cassette at the back (gears like 11-32 or 12-32 not something beginning 14 such as 14-28), and tyres such as 700x37 700x40 etc. fitted.

Have a look at the Pinnacle Lithium?

It has to be a bike from Cycle solutions as that's who my work use for the cycle to work scheme. I'm not too fussy to be honest, the reason for the suspension is the general state of Manchester's roads as well as cobbles bits on the towpath! But nothing really necessary. Just don't know my Shimano from my suntour so all guess work really. The merida crossway 15 was recommended by the solutions guys but it's 75quid more than the Claud!

Thanks for the advice!

It depends if you got something like this

https://www.cyclesolutions.co.uk/37801/ ... -blue.aspx

then you've got mudguards and rack fitted already and benefiting from the C2W discount.

If this is your size I'd quite like this

Agree that the Giant city escape looks a better bike, who knows , you might enjoy it so much that you want to use it at weekends for social riding as well, that's when the suspension fork will become a pain.

Thanks both, appreciate the responses! I like the giant, will go online. Roll on last week's weather again to actually cycle!

Haha! that's why you need mudguards. Best of luck, and do let us all know how you get on with it, good or bad, and keep coming back for a chat / questions.
