I know it's been discussed before, but that thread turned into a pro's and cons slanging match for said super tyres so I'm starting a new one.
I'm upgrading to a Wayfarer frame so need a good set of rubber on it.
700 x 32/38c.

of a tyre similar in performance to the almighty Voyager Hyper?

I've been wondering the same myself.

When the 32s on my commuter/winter bike wear out I will probably go for Continental GP 4 Seasons which are now available in 32mm. I have used them in 28mm and was happy with them, both in terms of rolling resistance and durability, so would expect them to be OK in 32mm.

On my LHT, currently using 38mm Hypers, all I can come up with in similar sizes is Schwalbe Marathon Supreme or Panaracer Pasela. I haven't tried either, but from what I have read they are likely to roll a little less well than the Vittorias (when choosing tyres I would normally prioritise rolling resistance as long as durability is adequate). I wonder if anyone can confirm or refute this?

700x40 and wired but otherwise close to the Hyper. And cheap at £20.

As for rolling resistance - very little in it.

The Supreme is slightly higher but balanced by better puncture resistance and thicker tread so presumably longer life.

Never tried these, but laugh in the face of the Hypers' 120tpi. Has anyone ridden them?

I still have it sweep and it's in perfect condition bar a few nicks in the paint.
However, there is that issue that really winds me up...26" tyre's that will actually fit. Cityjets are nice handling tyre's and then there's the Kojaks but both weigh in at 400 or more grams each and neither are anywhere near as nice to ride on as the Voyagers....which are now discontinued
I know only of 2 nobbly tyres that'll fit the Touring. One's pricey and the other is Landcruisers which are 1.75" and barely get through the chainstays without rubbing the frame. In both cases, the Wayfarers 700c sizing solves those issues.

Another issue is braking. I spend a lot of time out riding with the mutt but she struggles to keep up with me going down the hills. There's nothing but hills where I live. Lots and lots and lots and lots of braking therefor. Not good for the rims. So the Wayfarers disc brakes will help here.

Comparisons between the Supremes and the Hyper here
https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.co ... hyper-2016

In the 37 size tested and the 60 - 75 psi range the difference in favour of the Hyper is 1.4w per tyre, I can't notice that with everything else absorbing my wattage YMMV
+/- 10 psi and there's more difference in the same tyre than between them. In terms of RR they're both excellent tyres, when you look at the other common touring tyres you can see it's by quite a margin.

Thanks chaps. I'm leaning towards the Supremes.

It is a pity that there seem to be no measured comparisons of rolling resistance for Hypers vs Paselas, because I have used both on the same bike on the same terrain and the Hypers do not feel faster. The Paselas that were on the bike previously felt just as fast, and around the same comfort wise. Nothing to choose between them. Both wear okay, neither punctures much, so for me, if both were available, I would be choosing on aesthetics and price.

re 559 tyres; folding Kojaks in 35-559 weigh less than 300g and are a pretty lively tyre. You can also get supremes in 42-559.

cheers

Yes I agree, and I think I would be happy with Supremes but pwa's comments on Paselas are interesting as well. It's a pity they haven't been tested on bicyclerollingresistance.com

I don't think you'll go wrong with those.
