A friend of mine just posted this on fb, is the same true of Cycling UK
"In 2013 the rules regarding the recovery of legal costs in the event of a successful personal injury claim were changed such that they are now typically taken as a deduction of up to 25% of any settlement made. This includes any success fees, or insurances against non-recovery. Before this ruling any such fees were recovered from the third party in addition to any settlement costs.
However, if you are a Race Silver, Race Gold, or Ride or Commute member with British Cycling your legal fees are covered by BC and you receive 100% of any settlement.
If you need a licence you are a Race member anyway and this is just an additional free benefit. However if you don't race it really is worth making sure you are a BC member."
