Bike protector material

Hi Guys, I am picking up 2 new bikes in a couple of weeks and usually put the bikes flat in the car with the front wheels off, however as these are new does anybody have any recommendations for any material to put between the bikes to stop any scratches until the newness has worn off.

Yep.
We have an old candlewick bedspread for lying bikes down in the back of the car. Any old bits of material would do. Towels and bits of carpet and rugs also.

If you have an old quilt cover, put your quilt in it and use that. Nice bit of Tog10 will be great!

pipe lagging can work well. You can secure it using re-usable zip ties where necessary

Cardboard from used bike boxes is good too and can be folded along the corrugations to retain some strength.

Bubble wrap. Not very eco, but if you get from somewhere like home appliance shop, then at least you are reusing.

I tend to keep some of the packaging from things purchased online, so that usually means I have some bubble wrap available if I need it (which also means it turns from single use plastic to double use, or more).

Also, to state the obvious, if the bikes can move around to any significant extent when in the car, e.g. in the event of hard braking, then a protective blanket or whatever may not stop damage occurring. I would try and position or wedge the bikes so that they could not move around or slide, and maybe take the pedals off.

I use old duvets. They also protect the back end of the car as you put them in. Cheap from Lidl or Aldi.

Yep. Cheap duvet at £10 is a small price to pay to protect both your car and your bike.
