Getting decals off a Dahon Sweetpea

Postby flowersdie » 30 Jul 2019, 3:26pm

I bought a virtually unused Dahon Sweet pea off ebay a month ago for £60. I got my LBS to change the front chainwheel to a big 'un, donating the parts from my old 'falling to bits and welded together' Daewoo shuttle. The bike is now very nippy and great for getting on the train when needed. One thing I would like to do is get rid of the 'girly' decals. I tried the hairdryer route but this didn't seem to work at all. I am wondering if the decals are clear coated, as I have read this makes it almost impossible to get them off without stripping the whole frame. Does anyone know if dahons generally have clear coated paint over the decals? I've contacted dahon themselves to ask but have had no reply so far.
