70% less friction than what, exactly? If it is a brake, that might be a bad thing? I think this is simplex the bike company, not simplex the derailleur manufacturer.

bikes obviously go better if you are wearing no clothes and have bits of dead parrot strapped to the pedals. Practically have to hang on for dear life you know...

André Leducq won the TdF in 1930 and 1932. He was popular with the fans, being a bit of a joker, but his riding career was probably cut short by WWII. He went on to team management in the 1950s. This poster is (I think) from 1932.
