What Dawes Model Is This?

Postby sandybsimon » 29 Aug 2019, 12:02am

I have been searching the web to find out what Dawes model we have. It was purchased new in 1970 and is a women's 10-speed bike.

Thanks for the help.

Dawes seem to have sold ladies bikes under the name of Fleur for at least two decades.

is from 75/76. Dawes didn't change their model line up radically from year to year at that time (not in the mainstream adults models anyway), mainly just the colours, so I'd guess that you have a Model 25 fleur with the flat handlebar option.

There are more catalogues in the VCC library but you need to be a VCC member to access them.

Thanks for the responses. I appreciate it.

The bike is in relatively good shape except for the derailer. Hate to junk it, but it can no longer stay in my garage.

Any ideas where I might be able to find someone to take it in the USA (I am in California).

looks like a 23-1/2" dawes 'shadow' from the 1980s to me....?

Similar bike here

after a certain date they had 700C wheels instead of 27 x 1-1/4". A friend had one in about 1986 and it had the same SR crankset on it, so I'm guessing that it is about that date and has 700C wheels.

A replacement rear mech will only be a few quid; I'd fix it and sell it as a going concern; it may have 'retro appeal'.

Cheers. Slightly too big for me unfortunately. Only £30 quid on gumtree near Peterborough if it suits anyone else.
