Whatever happened to bamboo clothing
About 5-10 years ago it was going to be the new wonder material, like merino wool but cheaper and better. Then nothing.
If I had a baby elephant, I would put it on a recumbent trike so that it would become invisible.

eaten by pandas?
Re: Whatever happened to bamboo clothing
Often sold as Tencel or Lyocell, which are cellulose polymer fibres - AIUI the raw feedstock can come from wood or bamboo pulp. Tends to be marketed as 'bamboo' by brands wanting to project an eco-friendly image.

Yes I have a couple from Aldi.
Nice, but though they may have been sold for cycling I don't use them as that.
They are heavier than merino and hold sweat more.
I use then as quite nice winter vests.
If my ride doesn't merit the merino I use Aldi's synthetic base layers - they aren't bad.

Those look good, but why don't Aldi ever do size small clothes

BAM stuff is pretty good, especially if you get things on sale, a lot of it has around 30% cotton content so not as good as the likes of 100% merino stuff.

They do it's just their small is my oversized large.....
I have some BAM socks that arrived in the post as a free sample, just not impressed with the variety of styles; a bit dull for my tastes... But had intended to look at their baselayers... thanks for reminding me.

British cycle-clothing company GRN have a couple of bamboo t-shirts in their range. Beware the white Brunel t-shirt which is advertised with the words "Cycle to work -Brunel would" but the words aren't actually on the tee. Nice stuff though.
Re: Whatever happened to bamboo clothing
Most larger shops in Norway sell it, and several specialise in it. Norwegians like their merino, but some people are allergic to it, and bamboo is seen as a good alternative.

One of the premium cycle brands made jerseys from it a few years ago, but the reviews weren't good as when you put stuff in the rear pockets the jersey sagged badly.
Presumably it is just too stretchy for cycle jerseys
