Any opinions here? I know people here use the Plus version but what about the Tour version
From the pictures they seem to be very different tyres at similar prices and seem better value since the standard Green Guard has gone up in price

My only experience is replacing Green Guards with Plus. Quite a few online sources were going on about how heavy the Plus' were and how much worse for riding but I didn't really notice the difference. (I'd been on the Green Guards for long enough to completely wear them (rear) out).

On a related topic, I do have a few marathons but remain mind boggled by the variants.

Can anyone point me at a simple guide to them all - with differences in easy to understand language?

Have you looked at Schwalbe's website which gives scores for various properties of their tyres?

One difference I see is the the Tour dont have a bottle dyno track where as the Plus does, and Schwalbe claim the Tour is better off road? Interestingly they say the standard marathon has better off road performance than the Plus one.

Has any one used the Tour version?

I couldn't fiind one after during a quick look. There is also a catalogue that you can download that may be useful...And a selection tool where you select the proposed use and your wheel size

The Marathon Tour is aimed at mixed dirt/bitumen riding. The tread is extra deep and thick. I used a pair in Australia.... They are probably tougher, more puncture resistant and will last longer.

I know it’s for mtbs, but, I’d swear by the Marathon plus - absolutely bullet proof. We’ve just bought two Scott E mtbs, had a load of punctures on the tyres that came with them. Just changed for plus tyres, oh joy, no more punctures.

I just bought 700x35 (37-622) Marathon Greenguard for £17.09 each from Rose bikes carriage is extra but not too bad if part of a biggish order.
BTW on bicyclerollingresistance.com the 32mm is reckoned to be not so good, something of an oddball and it's almost as heavy as the 35mm one it seems.

I'd already decided that 35mm was what I needed so that result is a bonus.
Rather like you replacing the Supreme for winter I'm replacing Vittoria Hyper 35mm ones. What size Supremes were you running?

Yes, there are so many that recently I was almost put off buying any at all through indecision. In the end I went for the Greenguard in 35mm based on price at Rosebikes and a good review https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.co ... 2-37-40-47

well if you look at my comment above, from the Schwalbe notes, the Plus dont rate as high off road as the Tour or standard Green, so maybe the Tour would have been a better choice for your mtbs?

One of the benefits for the manufacturer of having so many variants is that customers start thinking "Which variety of Marathon?" rather than "Which tyre?"
