Two drums and a cymbal fall off a cliff

Post by D363 »

I'm looking to replace some friction shifters (which are good until things get a bit ragged in bad weather or through tiredness) for a 9 speed Shimano mtb mech on a drop barred bike.

Will Microshift's BS - T09 work ok in index mode? Are there any others that would if not?

You might want to adjust your title
But do you mean these

Shimano road and MTB are compatible up to 9 speed so yes you should be able to mix these (or any brifter) from Shimano with an MTB rear mech..

They will work, but beware that they will have clamps to fit 22.2mm flat bars, not road diameter drops.

Ok thanks, I had the idea 9 speed used different cable pulls between road and MTB. Should have checked before posting really, if they don't I'll probably get Shimano ones.

These are what I use. Pricey but worth it. I don't think there is anything to improve on. And they work with anything Shimano that is 9 speed.

9 speed from Shimano is all the same for road and MTB. It's only from 10 speed that things diverge.
Front shifting is different regardless of speed.

Thanks all, I think I'll go with the Shimano ones - hopefully they'll work well and last a good few years.

A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.
