As it happens, it came up in conversation (after I'd been at the mulled wine) that in Germany you can also get points for drink cycling. My daughter thought it slightly unfair that you could lose your licence by cycling but couldn't if you didn't have one. & you'd always be allowed to cycle whether you had a licence or not.
