A friend is likely to to go Cala Bona and would like to go cycling, about 40 miles max.
She is interested in interesting towns/villages with somewhere for coffee and a bite to eat.
Thanks in anticipation.
Plus of course an interesting ride without too much traffic.

One of the most popular rides on the Eastern side of the island is San Salvador. There are two cafes at the top.

We stayed in Cala Bona last year. We hired bikes and cycled along the coast between Costa dels Pins and Porto Cristo. Plenty of café and bar stops on this route We also got the bus to Artà and hired to bikes to cycle the Via Verde.

All easy rides and fairly pleasant but nothing special

Petra is a must. The square is where all the cyclists meet and various cafes to chose from. (19 miles one way)
Manacor. Biggish town but plenty of cafes. (12 miles one way)
Most towns and villages have a cafe or two.
For a real test then San Salvador monastery but low gears and stamina needed. (23 miles one way and a hard climb but worth it.)
Just to add traffic is generally curtious and no problem on the main roads.

The Via Verde also goes to Manacor but I wouldn't recommend it on thin tyres. Surface was loose gravel when I last rode it. (much prefer sticking to the roads.) https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31908485

Just about anywhere and every where, the locals are so used to cyclists, and give you plenty of room. I have ridden on the Via Verde on a hired Specialized Allez, don't remember it being a problem, probably on "25s". Enjoyed the Caves de Arc, (with music!), but it's a steep climb back. Possibly ask in a bike shop about a map by cyclist for cyclist, but make sure it's an up-to-date one, lots of mistakes on early ones, they show the likely amount of traffic and the road surface, maybe use it in conduction with another map.
