Sqr bolts

Post by Squibnocket »

I've had to drill out the bolts from my sqr block and I can't seem to find any available to replace them.
Has anyone got any ideas as to where I could buy these?
Many thanks

are they not just standard caphead screws? I can't remember if they are M5 or M6. They are different lengths from one another and you need to be sure that they stay clear of the seat pin itself, so not too long.

There is a photo of the bolts (not a very good one) on this page

Any good fastener suppliers will be able to furnish you with the correct screws, but you need to tell them what type and length they are. Obviously you can't use too much grease on the bolts when fitting them; commonly the captive nuts spin in the clips once the screw won't turn easily in the captive nut; you need to fix this else you will have the same problem repeatedly. If you can't nip the captive nuts up, new clips would be the best thing.

cheers

Thanks Brucey,

I've bought new clips just need the bolts now and it appears carradice don't stock them. I may have to wait until normality resumes.

Have a look at my post here
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=17097

They are M6 x 25mm and 45mm cap head bolts, but a bit long as supplied I think....
I've just had a dig about and have a spare pair of shortened bolts you are welcome to, they are shortened to 18mm and 36mm.
I've found these are easier to assemble with the seatpost off of the bike (easier to line the nuts up with the holes), in a vice for preference, it becomes a study in frustration doing it whilst fitted to the bike.
