This is a new name to me,no idea of tubing, seat post is 25mm. Anyone shed any light please?
Anyone heard of midas bikes?
Re: Anyone heard of midas bikes?
Entry on the Retrobike forum was the first result on Google
The only snippet of info I was given, was a couple of years later. I was repairing a puncture on the summit of parbold hill when another Midas rolled up behind me. The guy believed they originated from leyland (lancs), under the name of Mike Dickson or Dickinson, but years later when I attempted to research those names, no results came up

I did see that, not a lot more though. All local to me too, maybe a shop brand? Thanks
Re: Anyone heard of midas bikes?
I'm guessing this will be a head scratcher for me. Is there any way to identify the tubing?
Re: Anyone heard of midas bikes?
Somewhere in the deep recesses of my brain this name rings a bell. It’s probably from the late 80’s when I was in the market for a new road frame and would have been scanning the pages of Cycling Weekly. I too think it originated from Lancashire and I am racking my brains trying to remember the regular advertisers in the comic from back then.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

Does Dixon cycles ring any bells, Leyland area?

No. It could be a builder local to there (or thereabouts) that sold them via a number of shops in the area.
Cycling Weekly ad may have been Deeside Cycles, Parkers or maybe even Ribble. There again it might just have been a small linage ad for just the frames.
Not really helping, am I?

Quite the opposite really. Every little helps.

Mike Dixon Imports has a brand listed as Midas. I vaguely remember these bikes from the 80s.

Many thanks, have emailed them. Will see what response I get.
