Sending an eBike question - Lithium Battery

Post by begraff »

Hi guys.

I have a eMountain Bike and I need to send it abroad, it can be disconnected, however I am not sure if lithium batteries are permitted to be sent via courier services.

Does anyone know if it is possible at all to send lithium batteries? or even a service that will send the whole eBike

Where are you sending it?

There have been a number of posts over the years about sending a bike abroad. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a specialist firm that does it, so unless you are lucky and find someone who is 'going that way' you are stuck with the usual international couriers.

Unless you can strip it down a fair bit, it can be expensive as they work on linear measurements (L+H+W).

Having said that I know lithium batteries aren't liked on planes. You can see from this link that DHL might take them, but ask that you contact their "Dangerous Goods expert". https://www.dhl.co.uk/en/express/shippi ... eries.html

Almost impossible to send anything with that size of battery abroad. The only way is to try and find someone travelling by ferry to your destination.I had the same problem ,even my daughter who ships goods worldwide on a daily basis could not help,I managed to get help from a caravan club member who took my bike to Portugal close to where I needed it.Good luck.
