How to steal a bike by City of London Police

Honestly, some of the stuff on youtub is a bit irresponsible.
Mods, feel free to delete this link. Although theres not a lot of point, the average tea leaf in a van will have 50 bikes at once.

The only thing I can think of that isnt shown is someone cutting through the railing that a bike is locked to. Look closely in town, you may well see a cut railing. Lock to a thick one.

Theres tips at the end on how to lock a bike.

You can never deter a daring or determined thief, but leaving in conspicuous place can help.

Please don't, in fact make it a sticky. People need to know how the scumbags work, what tools they use and frankly how useless some, no most bike locks actually are.

There was a tv programme some time go The London Programme ? that did similar experiment. They locked bike in various public places - Piccaadilly Circus and even Scotland Yard and went about stealing it using various tools incl portable angle grinders & 4 foot long bolt cutters AND NO ONE BATTERED AN EYE, PAYED ANY ATTENTION.

People dont have a general awareness what going on . In the USA there was court case where a cop was beating up a suspect, another unrelated cop ran by in pursuit of some thing else and the courts tried to convict him of conspiring with the first cop as he must have seen what was going on. There have been experiments repeating this scenario where the runner just doesnt see whats going on as he is concentrating on going forward etc. So dont rely on leaving a bike in a busy place.

The only safe thing to do is keep your bike in sight eg when you are in a eaterie and dont leave a decent bike any where for any length of time?
