Re-chroming

Post by mercianman »

Does anybody know where I might be able to get an old clip style headset re-chromed. I am based up in Lytham St Annes, but will be happy to post if necessary

Not used them myself but good reports from others, and prices seemed competitive.

I've used this company for chroming motorbike parts. They do a good job and are reasonably priced. Will supply a quote on receipt of a photo of the parts with approximate size. https://www.rschrome.co.uk/

Rechromers in my experience aren’t too good on the subtleties of bicycle parts. If you’re thinking of doing the crown race, be very careful to ensure they don’t put chrome in the actual bearing race (don’t ask me how I know this..)

Personally I wouldn’t bother with the crown race as the risk of damage from the polishing is a bit too much. If it’s just the headclip itself then it should be easier for them to rechrome it without fouling up the race
