Just out of interest, have you tried driving around the lay-bys in your area to see if there are any packages dumped near them?

A couple of postie's have told me that parcel force are be staffed by royal mail rejects who have been sacked or simply didn't pass the security checks RM workers go thorough. Also, in our area the postie's told me that they often ditched parcels b to places they didn't want to go to (rural area so n some addresses are right out of the way). Either ditched at the sorting office so RM had to deliver or in a few cases at the lay-by where they often took a break.

The story I heard was when a customer kicked off over a missing parcel. The manager got into his car and went to that lay-by. He put a load of parcels into his boot and drove around delivering them.

Obviously the above is totally fabricated nonsense! Posties telling people Parcelforce has rejected operatives indeed!

Ok first example was a colleague of my two postie friends was sacked by RM over security issue. He ended up working for parcelforce who were recruiting at the time. Lower security requirements because they were not covered by whatever legislation applied to royal mail.

Second example was a guy who failed in his application to work at RM. He too ended up working for PF.

Both examples are just two of the cases i got told any by two good friends at the time who were employed as postal workers with from security checks (as in not temporary, seasonal workers who didn't have the checks but never went out delivering but were supervised in the sorting office). They were two very honest people, certainly more than usual honesty levels of general public imho. Not known for exaggerating or lying. If you know that they're lying please give your proof otherwise it's just your opinion and I for one believe them over your opinion.

Well this person put me in contact with the head of customer services, who quickly found my lost parcel and asked if I still wanted it sent.

I said not a month late and I don't want it back - now I will receive a full claim refund and postage.

Short answer: deregulation, out-sourcing & conglomeration. Nobody knows anybody else. Everybody is a stranger and no-one is held accountable for misdeeds. At one end of spectrum, a few quids worth of plastic kiddie seat nobody wants to take responsibility for. At the other end, the nausiating buck-passing we see unfolding in the form of the Grenfell inquiry. How did we get there? The population grew too big. Now there's a place for anyone to hide no matter what they do...
Annswer: much much smaller population and all to live in nice villages, like for instance Slad or Hathersage. As have suggested before, trim down to just those countries that play first class cricket & rugby... keep their cuisines, obs but get rid of the motor car. Also Scrabble compulsary each evening. And music. No religion. And must be kind to animals.

I have found that when one has been sent around in circles by inept officialdom/bureaucracy and after one has exhausted all complaints procedures, formal notice of "issue before action" works wonders. A lot of outfits rely on the consideration that an individual gets frustrated to the stage where they give up chasing. The rule is don't; After all " the squeaking wheel gets the oil".

Just as a matter of interest, why did you choose Slad and Hathersage? Both nice places of course, and plenty of cider in Slad, but lots of other candidates. Had a nice curry in Hathersage by the way, on a LEJoG.

Living in flats, it's an open invitation for theft, when I'm out working all day, sometimes until 10pm.

No the tracking indicates it made it to Bristols Depot and never resurfaced

It always staggers me that Royal Mail et al state that a parcel is 'lost' when it was tracked as far as their depot - either they have dishonest staff (temporary or permanent) or there is a big skip outside which strangely has parcels with no addresses on? All a bit strange.
Going back 17 years...... I had a couple of parcels that came through the sorting office and were delivered with the packaging damaged as though they had been opened, however no message was put on the outer to say this was the case. eg "opened and re-sealed by Royal mail for security reasons" or "arrived damaged and re-sealed by Royal Mail. A particular incident which springs to mind (and made us very suspicious) was when the optician sent my consignment of 180 contact lenses via this same sorting office (not tracked mail though). They were expected to arrive to me in a couple of days, so after 5 days I phoned the sorting office Q"have you got a parcel for FP at XYZ Road? " A "no, nothing here". So I phoned the optician, who started they had indeed been posted 5 days prior, and gave accurate dimensions taken from another box on the shelf. So, a visit to the sorting office Q "Have you got a parcel fo FP at XYZ Road, it measures 12cm x 15cm x 3cm?" A "I'll have a look" ...... returns "No, nothing there, what's in it?" Contact lenses. "hang on, I'll have another look" returns 1 minute later "Here you are" and hands me the parcel.
Highly suspicious or what? We moved a short while after that, but if we'd experienced it again I'd certainly have rattled a few cages!
