Posting a bike abroad
People, I've someone interested in buying my bike in Argentina. I quite fancy it taking the next chapter of its life there. However, I cannot find a courier willing to send such a large box there. Anyone know of one who may? Thank you. Robert.

It is very unlikely that you could post a bike anywhere. They are too big for parcel post. It may be possible if you completely strip it down, maybe with components in one package and frame in another.
It is possible to use a courier company, but this is very expensive because they work on linear measurement and that is a lot on a bike (l+w+h). Companies like DHL will give a quote, but expect it to be very expensive (£100s).
This question often comes up here or on the Touring branch. The normal answer is that the cheapest is to take it with you if flying - all other options are very expensive, if possible. Try searching in advanced search using meaningful keywords. To get an idea use "courier" and my name and you will find plenty of threads from people wanting to take or send bikes all over the world.
Here is something I wrote about using DHL to transport bike from Netherlands to UK in May 2019:
"Firstly the max size they allow us is 120 x 80 x 80cm. The 80s are OK, but a normal bike box is more like 140, so you would need to disassemble a bit. Using the dimensions 120 x 70 x 20 which is the normal size of my boxes apart from shorter length I got a price of £152:43 if booked online (£201:60 booked by phone) for home pick up."
Here's something else in July 19 about a company that says it specialises in getting your bike somewhere:
"I decided to email Luggage Mule, the bike specialist international courier company mentioned above and asked for the price to a couple of destinations. They replied quickly.
Bordeaux £107 , Porto £117, home pick up."

Many thanks. I tried eight options and the cheapest I got was £645. Fortunately someone in Oxford has bought it. The Argentine guy was a good bloke and was disappointed as it would seem that getting a cheapish half decent secondhand touring bike is virtually impossible in Argentina.
