For those who don't read the NYT
A delightful photo essay. But I wish he'd wear a helmet, especially on those frosty roads.

Thanks. Glad you were able to read it in the UK. I wasn't sure you could.

Let's pretend that he always wears a helmet, except when he leaves it beside the tripod to make a better picture?PJ520 wrote: ↑5 Apr 2021, 6:18pm A delightful photo essay. But I wish he'd wear a helmet, especially on those frosty roads.

Re: For those who don't read the NYT
Wonderful pictures, quite sublime.
Re: For those who don't read the NYT
Thank you so much for posting this wonderful photo essay. It's a triumph of dedication, consumate skill and artistic integrity. You have managed to evoke the timeless, and particularly English, quality of the place. Your point about not having to go far to experience wonders is very well made.
I'd just come in from a ride in West Penwith, Cornwall, on a cold day with a very boisterous wind, when I came across your work. Yours is a very different corner of the country. I was born in St. Leonards, and I know what an idiosyncratic place it is. Thank you again for making these brilliant images.

I remember someone saying adventures start on your doorstep which this post proves, thanks.

Lovely and very evocative. I couldn't handle the early mornings.
Not sure if the photographer is a forum member, it wasn't him who posted (unless he goes in for bizarre self criticism)

Re: For those who don't read the NYT
That would be silly, but a mistake I've made. Studded tyres would be far more use on icy roads.PJ520 wrote: ↑5 Apr 2021, 6:18pm A delightful photo essay. But I wish he'd wear a helmet, especially on those frosty roads.

But a helmet would look out of place in the wonderful timeless images.

For all I know the photographer could be a forum member (nice to think so) but it was not him who posted. Yes the early mornings would daunt me too.

How come he’s riding on the wrong side of the road ?

He's on Cyclechat as hoopdriver, and posted the link there himself.
