What did you buy today?

Post by Benz3ne »

I don’t think I’ve seen a similar thread here so let’s get one started! 😁

Today it looks as though I’ve secured a single-speed for quick trips to the shops. Looks like a Giant Bowery (the 2008 one in black and silver). Has different forks to the OEM, being carbon instead of aluminium. Looks in decent condition and for a good price too by the look of it.

In other news, I found a crack in my rear Ksyrium on my road bike. Had a spare front Ksyrium in white in the house so they’re both at a LBS having the rim swapped over. Hopefully getting that back tomorrow, so another little expenditure for me.

Not bike related but today I ordered a custom stock for my Hunter Field Target rifle.I went over to see a local maker who is very well regarded in the craft. In about 10 weeks I'll have a beautiful, one off,red and black laminate HFT/FT stock 8)
I also bought a 95ltr Chest Freezer for our garage.I recently installed sockets in there after years of 'meaning to' so the missus is happy 8)
I've also ordered a full cable kit for my Focus Variado build and am just browsing seat posts. Not far off having a Winter bike again.
I have just,literally 10 minutes ago ordered my iPhone 13 Pro-max too.

Busy day!

Suppose technically, my spending isn't cycling related :?

But in between 3 No. superb quick 28-32 mile runs today, a pain au chocolate, packet of donuts and a couple of specialist Italian deserts beckoned  (Nb. Somehow felt like the last day of summer and not having access to the gym or pool, the bike kept beckoning!)

Was that cycling or running?!

Mrs made last week's bake off malt loaf. Brilliant high energy cycling food!

New toy this weekend.

Despite it being dismissed as being as useful as a chocolate teapot by the venerable CJ I thought I’d give this a try as part of my efforts to preserve the kit on my 10-speed bikes in aspic. Anyway...

Nothing.
Excluding groceries, the last thing I bought was a T Shirt about 10 days ago.

One of these:

Cost £1.99 from Wiggle. Hope it's able to confirm my deliberations about whether or not a chain is worn.

Yes, I've been tempted by "eggs" several times recently. Substantial number of farms seem to be selling them via a farm gate honesty box locally, though as above the risk of breakage has deterred me to date

If you have a 2CV you can put them on the back seat and drive across a ploughed field... the wong way.

I bought a kitchen. First - and almost certain the last - in a lifetime. I also bought a book from Hive.
