Edge 1030 trim a ride

Post by PJ520 »

My problem is as follows: I had bike trouble a few miles from home so Mrs PJ came out and picked me up but I forgot to stop my ride on the GPS. Now using Garmin Connect I can trim the end of the ride to remove the motoring part but that doesn't change the ride in the 1030 itself. What I can't figure out is how do I replace the untrimmed ride in the Edge 1030 with the trimmed version? Or failing that is there a trim feature on the Edge 1030?

Trim the ride in Connect and save then delete the ride from the 1030. Download the trimmed ride from Connect to the 1030 connected to your PC and save it in activities folder where all rides are stored, I think.

What I can't see is how to do the download from Connect to the 1030 either from my Mac or from an iPhone. Interestingly when I trim it using the Connect app on my Mac the trimmed version appears on my iPhone but not in the 1030.

Edge 1030 trim a ride

On the Garmin Connect website go to the activity and click on the little gear type icon just below the description/ activity name.

From the popup select what you want to export as.

Take the exported file as save to your 1030.

this website can trim and edit files i assume it would work on a mac then upload to your edge via bluetooth to replace the original file ?

There's something I'm missing. I select send to device for my trimmed ride, Garmin Express starts, GE comes up with a message saying Sync Complete but there's no sign of my ride in the 1030

Export to device, AIUI, exports the activity as a route.

You will want to download it, connect your 1030 up as a mass storage device, and manually copy over the file.

If Garmin Connect is correct though, why the need to have it correct on the 1030? I wipe the activities on m8ne from time to time and never, ever, look at them on the device itself.
