The simplest thing to do is use valve adapters? Halfords used to carry them.

I don’t have one myself - I rely on the pump’s gauge and the thumb and forefinger test - but I see a lot of mechanics online with the Topeak SmartGauge D2 at around £25 - so I can’t personally justify the expense.

Topeak recently brought out a D2X - about a tenner more - but I’d still go for the older, cheaper model.

Not heard about two sizes. I have seen mechanics using the Presta valve port to pump up a Woods valve inner tube :? I just have one of these to thread on to the Woods valve then use as if a Schrader:

I believe there are some with a Presta thread on the tip but I know not which brand. It isn't Schwalbe.

Only a pump gauge will read Woods, due to the design.

I have a SKS Airchecker which I use on Presta and Schrader, it's more accurate than the gauges on my pumps.
I don't have anything with Woods valves, don't they use the same pump fitting as Presta?

We had a club "guess the pressure" competition at a social event some time ago, the thumb test is not as accurate as some believed. You can tell that there's enough air not to pinch flat and that's about it. If you subscribe to the idea that +/- 10psi makes a difference, get a decent gauge, if not, ride on.

You might be interested in this, though not woods I think.

Probably more expensive now.

edit - the link in my original post no longer works but a poster below said this is similar I think - quite probably the same Giyo made thing - I don't have mine to hand so can't check the pic.

Been a bit of , er, "inflation" as you can see.

Congratulations on doing the experiment.

But surely only when you keep the pump pressure the same as the tyre pressure? And I'm not sure that would work accurately on the old type with the rubber seal (that always was included in repair kits).

My track pump - and the previous one - has a pressure gauge. The connector will go on all valve types.
Press the plunger to equalise the pressure and the gauge will tell you the tyre pressure.
