Tip of the Day - cable ends
Re: Tip of the Day - cable ends
I've had some success with Araldite.
Can get messy, though.

Great tip! I never thought of using superglue in this manner, though I do carry a tube or 3 in my 1st aid kit. Works far better for sealing a cut than what plasters do

Cable end.
I suppose you could apply to the cable end then insert that into the anti-fray end (ferrule ?).
Would need to heat it to remove.

One of my touring pals once used superglue to repair the stitches to his vasectomy which he'd had earlier in the week.

Medical cyanoacrylate adhesive is different from the stuff that most of us have at home.

When your scrotum splits you tend to use whatever the village shops has.

I recommend butterfly plasters.

Back to cables - the superglue idea works well with a thin coat to stop fraying . . . I also apply thin coat to cables that have to be cut (e.g. a cable for front brake/mech) - apply the glue about an inch along and then when dry cut the in the middle of the glued area.
The other superglue tip is to fix the small plastic caps that fit to the end of mudguard stays (when they have been fitted and cut to size)

Heat shrink tubing is also effective.
Re: Tip of the Day - cable ends
Did that too.
Good thing about HS, is that you can get it off and the cable end isn't crimped or bent/changed and is still "raw".

Silver solder the ends, then file to make it easy to re-thread them.

I saw the virtue of these being extolled by Russ Roca on the excellent Path Less Pedalled youtube channel in his 2021 bike gear best of video amongst other items, about a minute into the vid.
