New top for Brooks saddle?

Post by micksimm »

Does anybody know if it's possible to get new leather for a Brooks saddle? I have a Swift that could do with a new top.

Some time ago, somebody posted the details of a craftsman, formerly employed by Brooks, who did all this sort of thing. Somebody may remember or a search may find it. From memory, while the service was excellent, the price was a deterrent.

A friend of mine recently had a saddle re-leathered by Brooks themselves.

I don't know about the cost

Why not just buy a new saddle? Surely the price is similar, especially as you can get some good deals out there.

I just looked up the person as I kept the copy of Bycycle where I saw the ad. I even spoke to the guy.

He does buy old leather saddles, so you may be interested in selling him yours and then buying new.

Perhaps I should tactfully root out all the old ones in my Dad's garage!
