Hi all,

I am looking for a bunch of base layers etc. as the mornings start to get brisk, but both my partner and I seem to suffer from the same problem. I'm not sure of her sizing but I am a 42" chest and take 30-32" waist.

Things like Wiggle seem to be sized for the more 'rotund', I would get a 38" waist if I buy something sized for my chest!

I don't particularly want to buy 'pro' level kit (if such a thing exists - but you know what I mean) just to get something that fits. Especially given that we are trying to put together a whole winter wardrobe to continue commuting year-round!

Does anyone have any recommendations for more sporting-fit garments, or alternatively has anyone vaguely similarly shaped got any feedback on DHB sizings?

try www.officialsports.co.uk (I think it is) primarily a site which sells referees kits, but they have a section there for base layer wear. I have shed loads of Canterbury stuff from them at a half decent price so always worth a shot

last autum i got a couple of long sleeve polyester runners tee shirts from decathlon, they're the best winter base layers i've used, better than what was on offer in the cycling aisle....

I second the choice of Canterbury base layers. They are incredibly warm.

Aldi are having one of their regular cycling 'Thursday Specials' next week. Not bad prices on base layers among other items , but note that they're selling top and bottom halves seprately for around the price that you were able to get both for last year

Sizings are ususally quite generous too. I'm 44" chest and their XL fit me fine.

Always found their clothing to be good quality for the price. Got to get there early though - the good stuff flies out the door.

Nip in to JJB Sports if you have one nearby - they are flogging off the Nike Climate Control stuff cheap. At least, the Norwich one is!

Aldi Are selling budget cycling gear in next Thursdays Specials. It's not top flight but if you are on a tight budget it does the job. Check out there WEb site www.aldi.co.uk

Not exactly what the original poster was looking for but worth a mention.

DHb just look at the sizing Charts, they seem fairly accurate

I've always been one for a bargain and think Aldi value for money but I also think that they cater for people with narrow waists.

Can anyone tell me why elastic needs to be so tight, both in waistbands and sock tops?????????? Can we not start a campaign against tight elastic ?

I really hate being pulled together so tightly at the waist and also the legs, as when you remove socks you have 'Pansy Potter" (for those who remember her) legs! Not the thing to have when you want a girly night out with heels and skirt!

I have always found Ron Hills to be very good on the bike as they dry so quickly.
