Viscount bicycles!!
Re: Viscount bicycles!!
My newly repainted/stickered aerospace sport, bought new by me in 1978 or 1979 with steel forks. Updated 25 years ago with 700c wheels from Ribble, 6 speed rear hub and new brake levers. Otherwise original Shimano 600 front and rear mech; Shimano centrepulls; SR stem, seat post and cranks; and my B17 saddle.

I always like to see custom colours on these bikes - they had a very limited colour option when bought from new.
Looking good!
Viscount bicycles!!
I got my Gran Sports back from the shop and it is riding tight and smooth once again like a new bike...
The Velo Orange rear hub has a nice crisp ratcheting sound...
It is refreshing to be able to fully crank and get exercise once again without the chain popping off...
I'll try to get a photo of the new hub...

Photos of the whole bike would be great as well

Interesting .. I believe that I have one of these frames in my shed, albeit I have not laid eyes on it for some considerable time.. It was given to me by a friend and its in decent condition in a gold metallic with a steel fork maybe around 22.5 /23 c/t size it was bought in the States and brought home when the chap finished working over there.. when I find it later this week I will post it for sale in the parts section.. will

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Incredible knowledge shown in this thread! I've been lent this Viscount by a friend who was also given it - could anyone identify/date it?
Thanks so much,
Matt

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
That's a Trusty Viscount. If this blog is accurate, that was the branding between about 1975-78. That fits with my memory that that kind of model (and style of logo) was around when I started riding, just before I joined my first club. A friend had an Aerospace Sport, in that red.
You'll need someone with more specific knowledge to identify the model.

Do check the condition of the tyres before you ride it too far, the front especially looks way past its sell by date.

This is a fantastic thread with a lot of good information within it. I believe a lot of Viscount owners now post at The Viscount and Lambert Forum - link below. They also have a meet - up each year I believe (in normal times).
I'm sure if you ask for any information you require over there, you will attract a bit more interest (if you haven't already).
I think you need to join it to post or read .

I had a red Aerospace in 1979 which unfortunately got stolen from the back of the Boots in Rayleigh I was working in for the Uni holidays, well annoyed with that! Couldn't get another and ended up with a Carlton Pro Am.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
I've not watched that video yet but its in my playlist and when I saw the image I was pretty sure it was going to be Lambert/Viscount type bike based on that crankset which looks like one of the models they manufactured themselves in house. My Viscount bike has the Shimano Arabesque 600 type components mainly but don't think it came originally with inhouse components so later I assume.
