Guided bike rides round cities like Berlin, Paris ,Barcelona.etc.A great way of seeing a place..A bit too eeezyypeezey for a cycle tourist though....

A scenic road, sunshine on my back, tailwinds, interesting wildlife (esp birds), and the knowledge that work is far away. What more could anyone want from a holiday route, except the right companion(s) to share it with or alone as taste dictates.

Somewhere where I don't know what will be round the next corner but will possibly be an old castle or church, a river or mountain ... Back to Bavaria this summer.

The Kintyre Peninsular. Leaving Lochgilphead with everything I need for a long weekend. Enjoying the quiet roads (especially the east coast route) as most folk seem to turn north at Lochgilphead. Great campsites, both wild and commercial. Fantastic views across Kilbrannan Sound to Arran, especially early in the year when the snow is still on the tops. Glorious, deserted beaches. Golden eagles, buzzards, deer, seals, dolphins, wild goats. The time-warp town of Campbeltown. Best fish & chips or fresh fish off the trawlers. Masses of Rhododendrons. The Island of Ghiga. Views of Northern Ireland, Islay and Jura. Been going to this magic place for around 35 years now.

I absolutely enjoyed North Wales last summer on my Grand Tour.
Wrexham to Llanberis, then down and round the Lleyn Peninsular.
Fantastic.

I have to confess, from first thinking you were a complete nutter for doing it both ways, I did find myself getting slower and slower on that last 20 miles, as I just didn't want the ride to end.

How I'd find the time for both ways, though, I have absolutely no idea!

I must say though, when I'd finished, I was rather tired.
Adrenaline kept me going, but when it was all over, I was really rather tired.

Three weeks to do 1800 miles is some going, and I did it fully unsupported too.

I did mine unsupported too. Well, ok, my bed did get transported from place to place, but there was no masseur, no dancing girls, no ticker-tape parade at JOG, nothing!
