The Trimetals metal boxes are very popular around here, but we really don't need anything so big for just 2 bikes, and want to conserve minimal front garden space and a view for the neighbours. I would also hope to spend less than the £ 500 odd .
In the past I have made a simple shelter, but would now rather spend my time cycling and buy a more secure version off the peg.
Any suggestions out there ?

Have you thought of aproaching a sectional shed manufacturer?
You stipulate dimensions, security, etc and Ibet it wouldn't cost £500 either.

Many thanks for the suggestion, but I am not sure if they would be interested in a one - off ?

Check out 'tidy tent' on ebay for something small and portable. Not the most secure in the world, but some good D locks would do the trick.

B&Q have a "Saturn" polypropolene locakble narrow shed (about 6' x 3'6" I think with a wide door at the narrow end.

I would build one out of brick. Not sure if that would require planning permissions though.
