Anybody know a mail-order shop that sells cones?

Post by Gearoidmuar »

Of the non-ice-cream variety?
Need to replace cones in my main bike. Simple job to do but who sells them?
One cone on rear axle is pitted.
This, I read years ago, is due to galling. Galling is a type of natural welding which can take place and the cause is looseness, not tightness, believe it or not. The things we learn!
How galling.

It seems they only do Shimano.

What make does the OP want?

I posted recently about Shimano spares on another thread. if you look at the Shimano Service Centres site there is a page about spares and another for contacting the distributor, Madison, presumably if you get stuck.

PS I understand that John Major's rather silly 'Cones hotline' has been discontinued.

SJSC had them.

God, Shimano make loads of cone variants? WHY??

About time they standardised. It cannot make economic sense and it would make maintenance a lot easier.

It might not make economic sense for you, but I'm afraid it does make economic sense for S.
They would rather you bought a new wheel, bike, fishing reel....

There would be an outcry if they didnt supply spares at all, so they do. But they dont care at all if there are so many options that people cant identify the one they need
