Where I can find Crank Dust Caps?

Post by N+One »

Hi There,

I'm looking to buy some dust caps for my old square taper cranks, I've found some sugino ones for about £18, but quite frankly that is extortionate for what is essentially machined alluminium.

Does anyone know a uk supplier that can give me a pair for under a tenner?

I'd get off down to the tip if I were you .... usually plenty of choice there! (just take a wide bladed screwdriver with you to get them off)

I have a couple of TA screw in type that I don't use (I use the allen bolt type instead) and you are welcome to those. Just cover the postage. Although £18 - are we talking about the same thing???!!!

Let me know if you are interested.

I was in Schmoo's in Swansea buying an L.H. crank and the nice man threw in a couple of plastic dust caps for free.

Course, if you want bling....

TA Cyclotouriste dustcaps are a different size 23mm than most others. Modern TA such as Zephyr, Carmina, etc are 22mm.

If you aren't bothered about appearances, a large blob of Blu-tack works just as well. Blu-tack is surprisingly useful for quite a number of similar purposes on the bike, I find.

Cycle jumbles are a good source of odd bits and pieces. Just be very sure of what you are intending to buy, although most sellers are pretty straight and will give you advice or point you to someone who is likely to have what you need. Many hours of innocuous pleasure.
