Posting a Frame - who is best/cheapest/easiest ?

Post by dvines »

About to list a frame on Ebay - what is the easiest/cheapest way to send these ?

Royal Mail seem to get pricey for larger items, although the frame and box are only about 6kg.....

A carrier who would collect would be best too.

http://www.parcel2go.com/

Seem to be very popular for bikes and big stuff.

+1 for 'Parcel to go' I used them to send a frame recently, iirc about £16.50 next day delivery with DHL (including insurance).

I used http://www.interparcel.com/ to post a boxed up bike. Quick, easy and very convenient.
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840 :D

Parcelforce is actaully very decent. Their 48hr service with insurance costs around £13 and has the bonus you can drop it off at a depot or larger post office, rather than wait at home for the collection service to arrive. Or they offer collection too.

Parcel2go got DHL to pick up a frame at 9.30am yesterday morning in Poole, by lunchtime today it was in Norwich! Cost £13 with £100 insurance and guaranteed 24 hour delivery. OTOH a first class parcel posted Moday still hasn't arrived. The only reliable RM service nowadays is Special Delivery which thankfully is still wonderful :D

I have posted a frame weighing under 6kg Royal Mail Standard Parcels for £9.58 takes 3 to 5 days. If the frame is an expensive one you can add insurance for a little bit more. The parcel has to be under 1.5m long I think. Best to check the website.
