I have fond memories of Charlie and his shop when I was a teenager in the late 70's, myself and a friend used to cycle down on a Friday evening from Caerphilly usually after work.
He built us a number of wheels that I never had any problem with and must have spent a fair bit of money on accessories from his shop and gave us loads of free advice.
I can remember his shop moving to Grangetown in Cardiff and also the fact that he had a large radio (I think the make was Fidelity) in the shop running from a car battery, that was always on BBC Radio 4 - happy memories!
